I forgot to post the modding video I put together the other day. It only covers some very simple modding but it really shows just how easy it is to mod Crea. I have another video planned that I will be putting together within the next few days (maybe even today!). This follow up video will have showcase some advanced modding.
Aside from putting together videos and keeping up with the Kickstarter campaign, I have been doing my best to keep pushing forward with development. Lately I have been implementing the real inventory system. Once I finish it and get some screenshots I will go over the details. I will say that it will be a lot less like Terraria and Minecraft and more like Torchlight.
“I will say that it will be a lot less like Terraria and Minecraft and more like Torchlight.”
Does that mean we will have a pet we can send back to the shop? or even better, back to our chests to store stuff for us!
We haven’t planned anything regarding pets. I was specifically talking about the inventory and toolbar being closer to Torchlight. But we have been talking about making it easier to get back to your base to store items.
This will likely be in the form of setting up teleport waypoints but that is still being considered. Who knows maybe we’ll end up going with a pet system… and if we don’t it would be very possible to make a pet mod.
Hello Crea guys,
Sorry for posting in such a random place, but i couldn’t ask questions on the kickstarter page without donating first.
I’m a gamer and not very interested in modding myself. From what i’ve seen the game look a lot like terraria. Could you tell me some differences between the games, excluding the modding?
Steven
I wanted to add that your game looks very promosing
Hello, Steven. It’s fine to be asking here. On Kickstarter you are also able to send me a message by going to the comment section and at the top there is note saying that only backers can post comments but you can ask the creator a question.
Anyways, to answer your question. There are several fundamental differences such as character leveling, crafting, and monster spawning. Then there are many more surface level differences such as the inventory/toolbar, UI will be much more polished, much more customizable character creation, world generation will have an “Advanced” option with many knobs, and item placement is pixel based (not tile) meaning much more flexibility in placing items.
There are more examples I could give but some are still in their design stages. While Crea may look like a Terraria clone, believe me when I say that we are striving to make Crea a unique experience that builds on the sandbox genre.
Feel free to ask any other questions or if you want me to go into more detail on any of these features I mentioned.
